The "Lone Ranger" Myth

Updated: Nov 10, 2020

Why do we like stories about people succeeding all alone?

Why do we strive to be like the hero in the movies we watch - the lone ranger? The one who pulls themselves up and wills their way through life's obstacles on their own.

My friend Pete shared in a 15 Laws of Growth Class that, "The human experience was meant to be shared." What do you think?

I couldn't agree more. None of us make significant progress or have lasting success alone without the help of others. At least that's been true for me. While I've had to work hard and overcome obstacles, there is always someone I can point to who made a significant impact on me.

Who can you point to that contributed to your success?

This "lone ranger" notion we can will our way through life and find lasting success is a myth. The reality for most, is we need the encouragement, wisdom, and accountability of others!

Who is your encouragement, wisdom, and accountability coming from these days? Be sure to thank these people if you are fortunate enough to have them! If you don't have them, find them.

One place to find these types of people is to check out my next 15 Laws of Growth class!

Whatever you do, please don't try to do life or leadership alone!
